Healing through skills transfer...

The Computer Centre has since June 2007 undergone extensive change in both the staff component and also in the computer hardware department. At the present moment it accommodates 20 students per class, 6 classes per week. At the present moment the computer centre does not have a creative facilitator Mr. Wiseman Ngobese and Mr Bhekanani Kheswa are the facilitators
The Computer Centre offers Basic computer skills from beginners to advanced level to the Hillbrow Community for free. New students have to fill the forms at Outreach offices. This acceptance criteria is in place, because demand for the course is big and space is limited. At the end of their tuition period, students write exams and are awarded certificates.

As demand continuously outstrips supply, please book early to avoid disappointment. Please come to the Outreach offices or fax (+27 11 725 2760) to The Computer Centre, and make sure that the subject box says: "computer class" with the following details:
  • Your name
  • Preferred date of attending.
Students are furthermore expected to write essays on various topics. this is done so that they may learn to express their wishes and thereby visualise their future. We believe that this in itself facilitates the healing process. The essays get published over the net and that also instils a sense of pride for the student.

The following link Voices from Hillbrow contains essays and essay questions written by the students.
