Our Vision: Inspiring creative journeys

Our Mission: The Outreach Foundation offers support and development to people living in the inner city of Johannesburg -and beyond. Through skills development and Arts enrichment programmes, the foundation seeks to inspire creative journeys for all looking to achieve their full potential.

Hillbrow was and is at the forefront of social change in South Africa. Many social issues of South Africa are concentrated here: There is a high incidence of HIV/Aids, women abuse, refugee influx, urbanisation and degradation of urban environments, drug dealing, prostitution and crime.

The Outreach Foundation offers a series of alternatives to the community in Hillbrow as well as the greater Gauteng area. The various projects offer children, youth and adults the opportunity to engage with arts, culture and heritage activities that facilitates communication, participation and community building. The inter-cultural disciplinary programme facilitates interactions between residents, youth and offer alternative activities for children during the school holidays. Urban degradation and unemployment continually result in people feeling angry and dissatisfied with their surroundings and with the influx of crime and few alternatives for the youth to be involved in extracurricular activities leads them to seek for guidance from peers and adults that do not have their interest at heart. Through team building, building self-worth and exploring identity the Outreach foundation offers a holistic approach to families and contributes to communication skills within the communities they connect with.
